Phyllis W. Hammond

DOVER – Phyllis W. Hammond passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 14, 2021 surrounded by the family who she loved dearly. Phyllis was born at home in Felton, Delaware daughter of the late Clarence and Mildred (Carson) Wyatt. She resided the majority of her life in Felton and Canterbury, before settling in Dover. Phyllis worked at home raising her family and was business owner with her husband of TransProducts and TranServices, divisions of FD Hammond Enterprises. Phyllis handled many tasks quietly behind the scenes keeping the operation running smoothly and orderly. She loved working side by side with her family. Phyllis’ true passion was her family. She loved them dearly and was always concerned about their daily lives and how she could help them. She enjoyed any reason to get together with family, whether spending quality time with them at her home or theirs, or a delicious meal at her favorite local restaurants. In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis D. Hammond (1993); and two brothers, Bobby and Nelson Wyatt. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two sons, Wyatt F Hammond and wife Beth, Wayne F Hammond and wife Pam; eight grandchildren, Michael Zinn, Kyle Zinn, Marcus Hammond and wife Jennifer; Michael, Anthony, Maria, Rachel and Dominic Hammond; ten great grandchildren, Christian Vasquez, Anna Leager, Gabriel Leager, Tori, Caroline, Francis, Jonathan, Matthew, Abigail and Avery Hammond; three sisters, Joyce Sipple and husband Bill, Caroline Gunter, and Charlotte Archer and husband Troy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Homes, Main Street, Felton, Delaware. A time of visitation will begin at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Noon in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored that you spend time with your loved ones and enjoy quality time together, just as Phyllis would have wanted.
