Amanda Elizabeth Horsey, 76, of Seaford, DE

Amanda’s Journey

Amanda Elizabeth Horsey, known as Puggie to family and close friends was born February 15, 1947, to the late James Gunby, Jr. and Vashti Gunby of Laurel, DE. Departed this life on November 2, 2023.

Amanda received her education in the Laurel School District. Amanda worked various jobs in her life. Amanda loved to care for people, so it was no surprise when she went back to school to become a CNA. She worked at Seaford Rehabilitation and Retirement Center from 1982 to 1994 when she was injured on the job. Amanda’s true love was her children. They were her everything. Everyone Amanda came in contact with loved her. She would find the good in people. Amanda never turned anyone away, no matter what. Amanda truly did God’s work, if you were hungry, she would feed you. If you needed a place to sleep, you were welcome. If you just needed to talk and someone to listen, Amanda was that someone to do just that.

Amanda was preceded in death by her mother, Vashti Gunby; father, James Gunby, Jr.; two sons, Kevin Gunby and James Gunby; two sisters, Renee Duncan and Doretta Fooks; daughter-in-laws, Melvina Horsey and Adlee Gunby.

She leaves behind cherished, loving memories for three daughters, Danielle Horsey (Daniel Watts) of Seaford, Melissa Williams (Ross) of Bridgeville, Sherita Gunby of Seaford; two sons, Donald Horsey, Jr. (Denise Hopkins) of Milford, Wendell Gunby of Felton; a God giving son, Durain Kellam (Christine) of Massachusetts; sister, Iris Puckham (Victor) of Laurel; thirteen grandchildren; Jeremy Horsey, Victor Hammond, Jr., Dallas Tingle, Ross Horsey, Rayna Horsey, Shaneka Ricks, Wendell Petro, Rikki Hall, Courtney Hall, Latoya Hall, Dontre Horsey, Jessie Lewis, Kevin Ilis; thirty five great grandchildren and also her extended family, Jamie, Michelle, Bianca, Tessa, Ty’keya, Beverly, Adrina and Meredith.

Lovingly submitted, The Family.
