Mrs. Amethyst (Amy) Elizabeth Sharp February 27, 1928 – November 30, 2021 Amy Sharp, 93, of Lewes, DE, passed away quietly on November 30, 2021, at home surrounded by loved ones and caregivers. Amy was born to Alfred and Elizabeth Linton in Onley, MD. During the depression along with fifteen other siblings, she worked on the family farm located in Carroll County, MD. In high school, she (at 5’4”) was a star on the basketball team. From there Amy moved to the big city and worked for the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. She faithfully attended Trinity Assembly of God for many years. While attending she was active in the choir and was the Sunday School secretary. She later worked at NASA, where being part of a team that designed and built satellites that were sent into space, made her extremely proud. Amy’s passion was gardening, but she also loved to sing and was a world class seamstress. She babysat for many neighborhood children, who to this day still call her Miss Betty. In retirement, she moved to Lewes, DE and built her dream home overlooking Red Mill Pond, and a designer was born! Amy enjoyed her home and its view immensely. A “people person,” she made friends easily. Visiting meant you pulled up a chair to stay awhile. She would be described as feisty, curious, strong-willed, hard-working and resourceful. With strong opinions on many subjects, she was a powerful package in a small body. Amy was preceded in death by her parents and all but three of her siblings, Kenneth Linton (Bernice), Irene Dell, Evelyn Burns (Pete). Survivors include her two daughters, Patricia Martin (William) and Brenda Hodges (Donald); as well as three grandsons, Christopher Hodges, Brandon Hodges (Amber) and Andrew Hodges (Marsha); and six grandchildren, Preston, Madison Elizabeth, Malachi, Grace, Dominic, and Kennedy Hodges. A Celebration of Life service will take place in the future. We will get the word out when we have more information. All family and friends will be invited to attend.
