Barbara Ann Bossert

Barbara Ann Bossert went home to the Lord peacefully on Tuesday evening March 25, 2025. Barbara was born March 11, 1938 as the oldest of four daughters to Dorothy Anna (Carr) Dickey and Charles John Dickey of Wilmington.

A former resident of Broadkill Beach, Smyrna, and Wilmington, Barbara was a tremendous seamstress and dressmaker. She was a life member of Five Points Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, joining February 16, 1960, serving in various positions including Vice President. Barabara graduated from Henry C. Conrad High School in 1956. She started working as a receptionist and administrative assistant at I.D. Griffith, Inc, working there over 20 years. Barbara owned and operated a fabric and sewing shop in Smyrna, and a sewing and alterations business (It’ll-Fit) out of her home at Broadkill Beach. She was a hospice volunteer, and church member. She was also an outstanding cook. Her family and friends will greatly miss her legendary Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter dinners which she loved to cook and share with all.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years George Robert (Bob) Bossert; parents, Charlie and Dorothy Dickey; daughter, Kimberly Ann; and daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Chick).

She is survived by her sons Vinton Charles (Ellie) and Joel Robert (Rachel); grandsons, Blake (Jill) Bossert and Daniel (Laura) Bossert; granddaughters, Ashley Eisele (Lindsay), Kimberly (Shawn) Bossert, and Kelly Bossert; and great grandchildren, Danika Eisele, Raines Eisele, Sadie Bossert, Jane Bossert, Isabella Bossert, Liliana Bossert, Kinsley Boone, Maverick Eisele, Karsen Boone, Dorothy Butcher, Wyatt Bossert, and Caleb Vinton LaSalle; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her loving sisters Carole Harbaugh, Sandra Sarver, and Charlene Workman who did much to care for her over these last few years.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 12:00pm at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, DE 19968. A time of visitation will begin at 11:00am.
