Bartos F. Hrupsa, Sr., 78
FELTON – Bartos F. Hrupsa, Sr., passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
Bartos was born and raised in Felton, son of the late Rudolph and Elizabeth (Minner) Hrupsa.
Bartos worked for the State of Delaware - DelDOT in the Maintenance Department for 30 years. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1969.
He enjoyed clamming and gardening, attending car shows and appreciating antique cars. Bartos also loved restoring and painting antique tractors.
In addition to his parents, Bartos is preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Jean (Edwards) Hrupsa; two sisters Mathilda Knapp and Francis Marie Hrupsa (infant); and brother, Floyd Hrupsa.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma “Bunny” (Gibbs) Hrupsa; two sons, Bartos Hrupsa Jr., and fiancé Tara Jenkins, and Danny Hrupsa and wife Missy; three grandsons, Bartos III, Brandon and Billy; a great grandson, Kaison; and four siblings, Tommy Hrupsa (Barbara), Phyllis Pearson (Stony), Mary Thresa Allen (Bob); Claire Lea Melvin (Walter Dill); sister-in-law Ruth Hrupsa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 19, 2024 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton, Delaware where a time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Hopkins Cemetery.
