Betty Marie (Donovan) Black, 89 MILTON – Betty D. Black passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Milford Place. Betty was a lifelong resident of Milton and was the daughter of the late Howard L. and Mary Elizabeth (Parker) Donovan. She worked as an administrative assistant with the Cape Henlopen School District for over 30 years and retired in 1991. Betty was a lifelong active member of Goshen UM Church. She enjoyed being outdoors doing yard work and was an avid golfer well into her 80’s. She was an active member of Shawnee Country Club (now The Rookery). She enjoyed participating in golf tournaments all around the region and received many recognitions for her golfing achievements over the years. She also enjoyed mentoring students at Milton Middle School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Black, IV and her brother Norman L. Donovan She is survived by her son, Joseph H. Black and wife Cindy; two grandchildren, Kristin Hamilton, Scott Hamilton and wife Durbin, and great grandson, Nathan; as well as, extended family and friends. A graveside funeral service will be held at Noon on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Goshen U.M. Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Milton, Del 19968. Those attending must wear a mask and adhere to social distancing and gathering protocols. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty’s memory are welcome to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Del 19963.
