Betty June Brunke

Betty June Brunke, 89, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 27, 2021 surrounded by her family. Betty was born in Annapolis, MD, to the late Robert and Helen Cecelia (Hambrock) Simmons. Betty was a member of The Water’s Edge, and was active in the Milton Community Food Pantry, where she volunteered countless hours to feed many families in need. She was an avid reader, particularly enjoying historical fiction. She also enjoyed gardening and playing Mahjong, but most of all, Betty loved to spend time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gale L. Brunke; two brothers; and one grandchild. She is survived by her children, Evelyn Louise Brunke, Helen Fay Bivens and her husband, Lawrence, and Teresa Ann Burnett and her husband, Jeff; her sister, Dorothy Childs; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Services and burial are private. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions be made to The Water’s Edge Church, 13275 Reynolds Road, Milton, DE 19968.
