Betty Louise (Wilson) Jester, 85, of Georgetown passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 24,2020 at home surrounded by family. Betty was born in Georgetown, the only child of the late Minus Woodrow “Woody” and Helen Louise (Loftland) Wilson. Betty worked as a tax examiner for the state of Delaware for over thirty years, retiring in 2002. She then opened her own business, Betty’s Cakes and Catering. Having a passion for children and cooking, she worked in the cafeteria for the Indian River School District and Sussex Technical High School. Betty was known by all as “Mom-Mom Betty”. During her retired years she spent most of her time with family and extended family. She enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners that would fill her kitchen table, and then some. She spent many weekends at the ballfields with the Delaware Diamonds softball organization. Betty loved to cheer on the girls, sing, dance, and provide lunch including her famous chicken salad for the players and their families. Betty was preceded in death by her husband John M. Jester and her daughter, Joyce J. Mitchell. She is survived by her son Gerald Jester and his wife Kimberly of Georgetown; her daughter, Kathy Myers and husband Jay of Dagsboro; a son-in-law Marshall Mitchell (husband of Joyce); five grandchildren, Mark Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, Robin Marvel, Brandy Magee, and Lauralee Hall; seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Mitchell, Jayce Marvel, Colton Marvel, Graham Magee, Hallie Magee, Piper Hall, and Reagan Marvel. A memorial service will be held at her home Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 2PM to celebrate her life.
