Beverly Eileen Bullington

December 2, 1946 — November 5, 2022

Beverly Bullington—mom, Ahmee, loving wife—famous for her exceptional Caesar salad and fabulous enchiladas, age 75, of Milford, DE, passed away on Saturday, November 5th. First and foremost, if you read no further, she would want for you to know that in addition to Caesar salad and enchiladas, her potato salad is not only also beloved by all, but was eaten by Joe Biden himself (sometime in the late 70s/80s, Mom would know the exact date).

Bev was born on December 2nd, 1946, in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA, to parents Launa and Thomas Berger. Even as a child, she was an avid reader, finishing the entire Nancy Drew series. Jane Eyre was another particular favorite, with Jodi Picoult novels adored in her later years. As a child, when not reading, Bev and her siblings would create hospitals for sick animals they’d find in the woods—in addition to creating rock museums for which they’d charge a small admission fee for entrance. Bev’s fondness and talent for interior design began in her teen years, when she would save money to decorate and redesign her bedroom. As the oldest in the family, Bev was accustomed to caring for others. From her childhood to her senior years, reading, designing, baking, and caring for others were central themes of her life.

Shortly following Bev’s graduation from Nether Providence High School, she began working with DuPont in the Fabrics and Finishes department, Wilmington, DE. As a young woman embarking upon a career, she still found time for socializing. Unbeknownst to Bev, a young man in her circle of friends set up a party with the sole intention of introducing her to Bob Bullington. The two met like Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet—via a tropical fish tank at the party. Love at first sight led to Bob and Bev’s wedding on May 25th, 1968, beginning 54 years of a happy marriage.

Bev eventually transitioned into working with the Red Clay school district, her favorite position being that in the Special Services department. Friends made here have lasted a lifetime, retired colleagues still meeting monthly for lunch dates.

Bev and Bob welcomed their firstborn daughter into the world in 1969 and would proceed to have two more, a house full of women. When their youngest was in high school, Bob was transferred to Illinois and Bev began a career in real estate. Her mid-western colleagues became an additional family of life-long friends, memories made with after-work cocktails at Chessie’s restaurant.

Upon retirement, Bob and Bev relocated back to DE, to welcome into the world their grandson, Aiden Muehlethaler. Aiden and his sister, Tegan, spent summers with their grandparents and no one who met Bev—“Ahmee”, to the grandkids—would ever escape her company without hearing all about Aiden and Tegan.

Ahmee will be greatly missed by her husband, Bob, her daughter Brandi, son-in-law Joe, and grandkids Aiden and Tegan. Tegan already misses her nightly calls with her Ahmee; Bob and Brandi have lost not only wife and mother, but a best friend—we will never be the same without her.

A service of remembrance for Bev’s life will be held on Saturday, November 12th, 2022 at 12:30pm in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, DE 19963.
