Bonita May Cotton

January 20, 1943 — February 26, 2024

COTTON, Bonita May "Bonnie", age 81 died on February 26, 2024 at her home. A 31 year resident of Felton, DE, she was born Jan. 20, 1943 in Dover, DE, and raised in Wyoming, DE, first child to the lateJames Elton Raughley and Anna May Harrington Raughley.


After graduating from Caesar Rodney in 1962 she worked as a sales clerk at WTGrants. She married her husband John on October 22, 1966 and then spent several years in Hawaii where John was stationed. After Hawaii they were sent to upstate New York and then returned to Delaware to settle down.


She kept on learning by taking classes in painting (oil, watercolor , acrylics), cake decorating, sign language & calligraphy. In her spare time she enjoyed music, funny stories, crocheting, working on genealogy and visiting with family and friends. She loved traveling with Lani.


She was the proudest of the fact she had been in every state except Alaska, her people may have been in Delaware since 1666 and she never got a traffic ticket.


She was predeceased by her husband, John Mather Cotton, in 2012. She is survived by her children: Lani M. Cotton, Renee L. Heinen, Jason M. Cotton (Tiffani), Amanda M. Oberdick (Rodney) all of Felton and B. Mariah Minner (Joshua) of Townsend, DE ; 10 grandchildren Anna May Bullock, Catherine E. Slaughter, Mathew M. Heinen, Seth A. Clough, Zoe M. Clough, Wynter M. Bunting, Eliana B. Oberdick, Ashlyn J. Oberdick, Alexis D. Minner and Adam M. Minner, one step-granddaughter, Victoria Bain, several great grandchildren, a sister, Glenda K. Hallett (Scott) nephew, Aaron Hallett, a dear friend, Sandra Georges and lots of cousins.
