GEORGETOWN – Brian Keith Diego, known to most as “Poppy Ralph,” passed away at home on the evening of Monday, January 6th, 2025. Brian was born October 26, 1971 to Grace and Robert Diego in Montgomery County, Maryland. He spent most of his life in Pennsylvania, where he was married and raised a daughter and three sons. Him and his family moved to Delaware in the early 2000’s, where he stayed until his passing.
Brian was an avid gardener, lover of ancient history, forever playing his guitar, and passionate about traveling. He was a loving father to his and three sons and daughter. His abundant love flowed through everyone he met, and he was a father figure to many outside his own three boys. Brian loved telling stories of his adventures, giving words of wisdom to all who needed them. He journaled his life stories and poetry every day. When he wasn’t journaling, he spent hours tending to his garden in Delaware. He loved being surrounded by nature, and took every opportunity to hike, wander through the forest, or swim in the ocean. He was loved by many, and he showed his love with passion. He will be remembered by all who knew him, and missed by all who loved him.
Brian is preceded in death by his father Robert, and his daughter Brittni.
Brian is survived by his mother Grace, aunt Gladys, brother David, his three sons, Matthew and his partner Kelsey, Nicholas, and Vincent and their mother Lorie, his partner, Mary and her son, Andrew, as well as the Tiberi family.
In remembrance of Brian, his family will be holding a celebration of life in the springtime. All are welcome, and we will be planting seeds in his garden to grow in his memory. We ask all who are musically inclined to bring an instrument to jam during this celebration, to play songs that were played alongside Brian or songs that remind you of him.
The date for Brian’s memorial will be posted at a later time, once the weather clears and the garden is ready for planting.
Arrangements are entrusted to Short Funeral Services in Georgetown where online condolences can be shared to the family at www.shortfuneralservicesandcremation.com
