Catherine G. "Cathy" Carey

MILTON – Catherine G. Carey passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Beebe Healthcare after a brief illness.

 Cathy was born in Milford, daughter of the late Clifford and Doris (Chandler) Legates. She graduated from Milton High School in the class of 1966. After graduation she attended cosmetology school and enjoyed being a stylist for her family members. In 1967 she married Donald E. Carey and shortly thereafter he was called to serve in the US Army. She spent her life caring for family as a loving homemaker and supportive military wife.

 Cathy raised show rabbits and thoroughly enjoyed traveling to shows and competitions, where she won many awards and accolades for her prized rabbits. A quiet soul, Cathy enjoyed the 700 Club ministries channel, shopping yard sales and blueberry picking with her husband and family. She attended Christian Tabernacle for many years, and most recently, Eagles Nest Fellowship Church.

 In addition to her parents, Cathy is preceded in death by her daughter, Faith E. Walrath, and her sister, Bonnie (Legates) Hitchens.

 She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Donald E. Carey; and two grandchildren, Ethan Cash and Emily Cash.

 A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, De 19968. A time of visitation for family and friends will begin at Noon. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Milton.
