MILFORD, Del – Cheryl Ann Truitt Darby passed away peacefully on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Bayhealth Sussex Campus. Cheryl was born on September 10, 1956, to the late William F. Truitt and Doris Ann (Molnar) Ennis. Cheryl was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Ralph F. Downs, who raised Cheryl as his own. Cheryl graduated from Stephen Decatur High School Class of 1974 and was employed for the past 25 years as a supervisor with the Harrington Raceway and Casino. Cheryl was an avid bowler and bowled on several leagues. She was also an avid cat lover and was a parent to many four legged 'babies' over the years. She was a kind and wonderful person who loved her family and will be missed by many. She is survived by her life partner of 33 years, Linda Harrington; her cats (her babies) Bootsie and Nosie; four siblings, Dave Truitt (Robin) of Millsboro, Del, Brenda Truitt Knox (Ken) of Marion, MD, Dean Truitt (Maureen) of Salisbury, MD and Jeff Truitt (Tammy), also of Marion, MD; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. A graveside funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Riverside Cemetery off Purnell Crossing Road in Libertytown, MD. A time of visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00am-12:30pm in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Homes, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, DE 19963. Due to the ongoing pandemic the family has requested that masks be worn and social distancing protocols be followed.
