Claire Watkins

MILTON and DOVER – Claire Watkins, formerly of Hunters Mill Estates in Milton, Del, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter in Dover on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. Claire was born in Frederica, Delaware daughter of the late Clarence H. and Emma Viola (Haldeman) Jester. Claire was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She enjoyed reading, cooking, opening her home to entertain guests, and was well-known as a stained glass artisan. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and member of Wyoming UM Church. In addition to her parents, Claire is preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Watkins; two sons, Scot Donophan and B. Jay Donophan; two sisters and one brother. She is survived by two children, Mark A. Donophan and wife Melanie of Salisbury, MD and Laurie Donophan-Dart and husband Jon of Dover; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Donophan (wife of Scot); several step children and their families; six grandchildren, John, Kristina, Sarah, Ashley, Andrew and Hope; seven great grandchildren, a great grandson due to arrive in December; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Conley’s United Methodist Church, 33106 Jolyns Way, Lewes, Del 19958. A time of food, fellowship and sharing in the adjoining hall will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Del 19963.
