Clyde M Armold

GEORGETOWN – Clyde M. Armold passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at his home in Georgetown, Delaware. Clyde was born in York, Pennsylvania and resided in the York area most of his life until he retired and settled in the Villages of Cinderberry community in 2014. After the loss of his mother at the age of 3, Clyde was raised by his aunt and uncle, Eleanor and Mark Wagaman. Clyde graduated from York Catholic High School and attended classes at Villanova University. He worked as a supervisor with York Corporation where he met his future wife Miss Lillian Taylor. He continued his career in a supervisory capacity at Olmstead Air Force Base in Harrisburg, which led to a career with Dentsply as an Inspector, from where he later retired. Clyde was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Clyde was a veteran of the Merchant Marines where he served from 1945-1946 transferring to the US Army from 1946-1953 as Corporal. Clyde was very proud of his military service and supportive of military organizations. His life memberships included the VFW, American Legion Post 28, Izsak Walton League, and the NRA. He loved being outdoors at the Potter County Hunting Camp, hunting, fishing and archery. He was preceded in death, in August, by his loving wife, Lillian E. (Taylor) Armold; son-in-law, Bob Sonzogni; two sisters, Gloria Stauffer and Blanche Staub; and a nephew, Raphael Staub. Clyde is survived by his daughter, Tina Sonzogni; a step grandson, Robert Sonzogni (Milcah); three step great grandchildren; nieces, Marla Weaver and Lisa Reid; nephew, Scott Stauffer; and a cousin, Carolyn Stiles. He loved his cat, Saige, and all the grand kitties. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions in Clyde’s memory to Kristi’s Kats, 23000 Sussex Hwy #103, Seaford, DE 19973 or York Catholic High School, YC Advancement Office, 601 E.
