Constance "Connie" Arlene Wood

Constance A. “Connie” Wood, 73, of Milford, passed away on September 14, 2024. She is survived by her siblings, Judy Knutstad, of Milford, and David Downes (Cora) of Orr, MN, and their children and grandchildren.

The daughter of the late Roland M. Downes and Eleanor “Nora” Exley Downes, Connie was born and raised in Milford. As a girl, she was brave and spirited. She loved all animals and could usually be found outside exploring or at the beach with her best friend, Donna May. She eventually moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where she witnessed the vibrant music scene of the 1970s and made many interesting lifelong friends.

Upon returning to Milford in the late eighties, Connie worked at Caulk Dentsply for many years. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, with whom she shared her love of movies, especially period film, and her seemingly infinite breadth of knowledge of history and nature.

Connie was an amazing listener and observer who cared deeply for her friends and neighbors and looked for small ways to serve others. She devoted much of her later years to caring for her parents. She loved her dog, Teddy, was quick to laugh her throaty, incredible laugh, and was the most loyal of sisters and aunts. Like many of the best people, she flew under the radar, demanding little, constant in her affections and support. Truly her deep faith, her hopeful nature, and her shining heart were a gift to all who knew her.
