FELTON - We lost a great man. Dale Hunter Matlack went to his heavenly home on August 12, 2021, where he joined his parents William E. And Martha A. Gellert Matlack. Dale was born in Baltimore and grew up in Millersville, Maryland. He moved to Delaware about 30 years ago. He spent most of his life as an over-the-road truck driver, most recently with DDS and Greentree Trucking. He traveled through 48 states making friends along the way. Dale enjoyed raising beagles and attending field trials all over the country. He was a member of the Woodland Ferry Beagle Club. He was most proud of producing 2 field champions. Dale suffered from a second stroke and came to the home he loved. During his last week on earth, he was blanketed with love by his wife, family, and friends. Dale is survived by his wife, Donna; his brother, Tim (Diana); his special cousin, Steve (Ruthanne); and his trusted dog, Harvey. He also leaves behind his niece, Melissa Pinque (Bob); her children, Libby Foxwell (Clarence), and Hunter Matlack; and his nephew, Ross Matlack (Stacy). Dale gained three stepchildren, Dawn Hood (Ed), Donnie (Gracie) and Jeff Beauchamp. A viewing will be held in the chapel of Berry Short Funeral Home, 217 Main St., Felton, DE 19943 on Friday, August 20, 2021, from the 6 pm until 8 pm. On Saturday, August 21, 2021, another viewing will be held in the sanctuary of Manship Chapel, 4912 Burnite Mill Road, Felton, DE 19943 from 11 am until 1 pm, followed by funeral services at 1 pm. Interment will at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Felton Community Fire Company, P.O. Box 946, Felton, DE 19943 or to Manship Chapel at the address above.
