David Irvin 'Sonny' Alexander, Jr.

David Irvin ‘Sonny’ Alexander, Jr., 81, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 12, 2022. David was born in Massey, MD to the late David Alexander, Sr., and Dorothy Thorpe. He served in the US Army and was a member of the Asbury UM Church in Millington, MD. He retired as a mail carrier with the US Postal Service, finishing in Lewes. David loved riding motorcycles and planning out and working in his immaculate yard, where he provided a place for Purple Martins to visit. In his younger years he raced standard bred horses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David L. Alexander; and brothers, Joseph and George Alexander. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Monaco) Alexander; son, Troy Alexander (Nicole) of Millington, MD; step-children, Brad Johnson, Shanna Johnson, and Laura Dewey Alcantara (Jose), all of Seaford; sisters, Dorothy Pratt (Jack), of Dover and Reba Businsky (Mark) of Middletown; and grandchildren, Cassidy Alexander, Conner Redden, Chloe Redden, and Lexten Alcantara. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022at 2 pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE 19947, where friends may call after 1 pm. Interment will take place on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 1 pm at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.
