David M. Pepper

David Martin Pepper, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 6th, 2020. David Martin was the son of the late David R. and Dorothy Pepper of Georgetown and brother to Mary-Louise, who passed in November of 2019. David Martin graduated from Georgetown High School, just down the block from his family home. He played football, was active in the drama department, and studied agriculture. While in school he worked at his father’s service station at the west end of Market Street. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Almeda Isaacs, in 1955 at Wesley Church in Georgetown, where they were both members. They were married for over 51 years before her passing in 2007. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, and spending time at his family’s house on the river in Oak Orchard. He is a United States Postal Service retiree, as well as a retired school bus contractor for the IRSD. He also kept a small working farm for many years on the land in which he and Almeda made their home outside of Georgetown. He was a Life Member of 62 years, Past President and Lifetime Fireman of the Year recipient with the Georgetown Fire Company, following in his father’s footsteps at the age of 23. He is survived by their Five Little Peppers and their spouses, M. Lee and Peggy Pepper, D. Randy and Mary-Beth Pepper, Connie and Dave Moore, Howard I. and Gina Pepper, Beth P. and Jon Beck, all of Georgetown. David Martin was a proud grandfather of 10 – Tyna Thompson (Billy) and their 4 children, David Pepper (Carin) and their daughter, Amanda Millman (Matt) and their two children, Cody Pepper (Jessica) and their 2 daughters, Benjamin Beck of Copperas Cove, TX, and his two daughters, Melanie Absher (Evan) and their daughter, Katelyn Pepper and her two children, Savannah Beck, S. Alec Beck of Omaha, NB, and Logan Pepper. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 12 noon in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE 19947, where friends may call after 11 am. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. All in attendance must wear a mask and adhere to social distancing and gathering protocols.
