Delbert Martin Scott

December 9, 1937 — February 16, 2024

Delbert Martin Scott, 86, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2024.


Delbert was born in Georgetown to the late Harold K. and Marion C. Scott. He served in the National Guard and later retired as a Specialist Mechanic for the Dupont Company after over 30 years of service. He also worked for LabCorp in his early retirement days. Delbert was a devoted Husband, Father, and Pop-Pop.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Olilee M. Scott, as well as his sister, Virginia L. Hitchens, and his son, Martin K. Scott.


He is survived by his children, Chris Scott, Jim Scott (Anne), and Beth Eberly (Tom); daughter-in-law, Donna Scott; sister, Mary Jean Bunting; 9 grandchildren Tyler Scott, Brian Scott (Christin), Trey Eberly (Olivia), Kacie Berg (Jacob), Bryce Eberly, Cam Eberly, Ryan Scott, Daniel Scott, and Jenna Scott; and two great-granddaughters, Charlie Scott, and Noelle Scott Berg.


A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE 19947, where friends may call after 12 noon. Interment will follow at Harbeson Cemetery.
