FELTON – Donald E. Baker, 76, of Felton, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Westminster Nursing Home in Dover. He was born in Harbeson, the son of the late Willis P. and Marietta (Donovan) Baker. Donald was a graduate of Milton High School, Class of 1964. He served 6 years in Delaware National Guard and worked as a machine operator for Playtex for 38 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed traveling across the country attending dirt track races and visiting National Parks, especially ones with mountains. He enjoyed Country Music and had the pleasure of seeing some of his favorites in concert. Donald also loved gardening and lawn work. He was especially proud of his grandsons and cherished time spent with them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Baker. Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Hill) Baker; one daughter, Renee (Greg) Sylvester; two siblings, David Baker and Jane Webb; and two grandsons, Jackson and Carter Sylvester. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, January 17, 2022 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main St., Felton, where friends may call after 12:00 noon. Interment will be held at Hopkins Cemetery, Harrington. As required by revised mandates during the pandemic, masks will be required for the health and safety of the family and those in attendance.
