MILFORD – TSgt Donald Forest Taylor, USAF, Retired, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the Bayhealth Sussex Campus. Donald was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia, son of the late French L. and Marguerite (Merico) Taylor. Donald retired in 1975 with the rank of TSgt from the US Air Force after 20 years’ service as an Aircraft Instrument Repairman. Although Donald retired from his military career, he continued working for many years afterward. He worked as an insurance salesman with Baltimore Life, as a manager and accountant for many years with the Dover Inn and Colony Inn Hotels; he was a driver for R.E. Calloway Transportation, and was a private tax preparer in the Milford area for many years. Along with his military and career accomplishments, he was very proud of his Masonic memberships and participation in their clubs, activities, and moving through several chair levels of the organization. Donald was a member of the Endeavor Lodge #17 AF & AM where he served as past secretary, a member of the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons Joppa Council #3, the York Rite and Hope Chapter #7 Royal Arch Masons. He was also very involved with the Nur Temple Shriners where he served as past potentate and enjoyed participating in many local parades and activities with the clubs Corvette Mini’s. He and his wife Barbara attended and are members of Lighthouse Christian Center and they both enjoyed venturing out to eat. In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sherry Leigh Taylor; and a brother, Joe Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara L. (Biggs) Taylor; two children; three sisters, Elsie Lucille Smith, Patricia Potser and husband Frank, and Sharon Thornberry and husband John; a sister-in-law, Emily Taylor (wife of Joe); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, May 3, 2021 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Homes, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, Del 19963. A time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00am. Interment with military honors will follow at 2:00pm at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
