Donald James Taylor

MILTON – Donald J. Taylor, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, 83, of Milton, Delaware passed away suddenly, surrounded by family and friends, on Sunday, March 26, 2023. Don was born to George J. Taylor and Ida Quering Taylor in Philadelphia, PA.

He married the love of his life, Martha (Martie) Wyckoff in September 1959. They recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. They moved to Delaware and raised their family. Their life together remains a testament of the love and mercy of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Don retired from the State of Delaware, DNREC, in 2017 after 17 years. His prior employment was with Townsend's, Inc. of Millsboro, DE where he had 18 years of service.

Don enjoyed working in their yard and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed attending the 5-10 Meetings, the Garden Cell Group, and weekly services at Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown, DE. Don and Martie were involved with the local Marriage Encounter community for over 30 years.

Don was predeceased by his parents, his brother George (Bud), his sister Dolores Thomas Bush, grandson Patrick Taylor Straut, and nephew William J. (Billy) Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Martie, two daughters Terri Straut (Jerry) of Littleton, Colorado and Kimberly Killean (Tom) of Millsboro, DE; 4 grandchildren: Daria Rawley and Taylor Killean of Millsboro, DE, and Brendan and Emily Straut of Littleton, CO; niece, Donna Adams Cox of Tucson, AZ; a "surrogate" niece, Amy Kratz of Milford, DE, and several close friends.

A time of visitation will take place from Noon until 1 PM on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, DE. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow.
