Donald P. Kunkel, 74, of Milton, DE, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 4, 2021 in his home. Born in Lehighton, PA on June 30, 1947, Donald was the son of the late Dureme and Robert Kunkel. He was a graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Class of 1965. Donald served his country faithfully and honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. He was employed as a diesel mechanic at Mack Trucks and retired at the beach, enjoying fishing, boating, hunting, and playing pool with very good friends. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded by his brothers, Rodger and Glenn. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Linda L. (Weller); son, Donald Kunkel (Jamie); daughters, Lori Brightbill (Jim) and Melanie Bernheiser (Nathan); five grandchildren and a great-grandchild who called him ‘Grampa’; as well as sisters, Bobbetta and Nancy. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life ceremony will be take place at a later date for family and friends.
