Obituary for Doris M. Hickman, 96 GEORGETOWN -- Doris M. Hickman, passed away peacefully in her home in Georgetown, DE on May 30, 2022. She was born on June 7, 1925 in Wilmington, DE to the late Robert and Helen (Robinson) Cathcart. Doris was a graduate of the class of 1943 from Wilmington High School. She enjoyed many community activities and was faithful and supportive to her family, friends and country. She served as a volunteer for the Georgetown Aid Inc., American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels, Home Extension Makers, American Red Cross, Girl Scouts of America, Post # 8 American Legion Auxiliary and served as state President of the American Legion Auxiliary from 1976 to 1977. She was a mother, homemaker with a long-time dedication to community service and attended Cheer. In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband, William B. Hickman, Jr., and siblings Robert Cathcart, Willard Cathcart and Marion Grochmal. She survived by her daughters, Doris Schirmer (Carl), Jane, grandchildren, C.J. Schirmer (Julie), Christine Fletcher (Ernie), Rob Schirmer (Carla), Bill Marienau (Julie) and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Georgetown, DE and a time of Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
