Obituary for Doris Matz

Doris Jean Matz, 85, formerly of Georgetown, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, in Millsboro, Delaware.

Doris was born the daughter of the late Henry Adam and T. Marnetta (Henry) Lawrence of Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

Doris was a homemaker who loved her family above all. She never missed an opportunity to have the family get together for a meal and to see the grand and great grandchildren. She loved genealogy and had traced her family roots back to the late 1600’s. Doris and her husband Bill enjoyed going to craft shows and traveling in their motor home, going to every state except Hawaii.

In addition to both parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Henry R. Lawrence.

Doris is survived by her husband of 66 years, William “Bill” Matz; daughter, Tammy Matz Cohee (Shawn Jones); sons, Bret Matz (Laura) and Kevin Matz (Deni); grandchildren, Jamie White (Travis), Katie Towers, Molly McKinnon (Rene), Daniel Matz (Lisa), Melissa Matz (Jason Hawkins), Cory Matz (Amanda), Erin Matz (Lawrence Bigford); great grandchildren; Madelyn, Dylan, Quinn, Liam, Adeline, Logan, Vincent, James, Ethan, and Jordan; and sister-in-law; Ellen Lawrence.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm in the Chapel of Short Funeral Services 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, DE. The funeral service and interment will be private.
