Edna Elizabeth Young Burns

GEORGETOWN - Edna Elizabeth Young Burns, 84, passed away at home on September 8, 2021. Edna was a native of Milton, Delaware and went to school at Milton High, where she was a majorette. She is remembered mostly by her role as the owner and operator of Burns Tropical Fish and Pet Shop at Gravel Hill, Georgetown. She was very dedicated to her business which she operated from 1969 until 2017. She is survived by her husband, James Burns; her children, William “Bill” Burns Jr, Diane Sponaugle and Janet Mitchell; along with a stepson, Jimmy Burns. Edna had 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 1 pm. A time of visitation will begin at 12 noon. Edna will be laid to rest at Sand Hill Cemetery.
