Edward Fulton Burgess II, known affectionately as Eddie, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 31, 2023, at the age of 54 in Dover, DE. Eddie was born on December 12, 1969, in Wilmington, DE. Eddie was one of a kind. He would do anything to make you laugh and he didn’t care if it made him look silly in the process. He was an avid collector of all thing’s baseball and fishing. Eddie loved all things Classic Rock, especially the band Rush. To say he was an animal lover is an understatement. He could be found at petting zoos bringing in his own special veggies and treats for the animals.
Eddie graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1987. For the last almost 18 years he was an employee of Chesapeake Utilities. Starting out as a meter reader, he worked his way up to a Meter Tech III, in which he was very proud of himself. He loved his coworkers and was always there to help.
Eddie will be dearly missed by the love of his life, Michelle Burgess, his mother, Jacquelin Burgess, sisters Liz Renshaw (John), and Susan M. Burgess, as well as his nephew Jaxon Renshaw, and nieces Amanda Burgess and Brookelyn Burgess, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Edward F. Burgess, grandparents Howard and Lorraine Stalnaker, John and Lillian Burgess, and his Oma, Marie Petty.
Eddie was met at the Rainbow Bridge by his very good girls, Kelly, Chelsea, Katie, Karina, and Molli. “You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.” -Rainbow Bridge Poem
