Edward Nelson Berwick

Edward Nelson Berwick, age 86, of Lincoln, Delaware, passed away on September 30, 2024 at the Delaware Veterans Home. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, known for his warm spirit and sense of humor.

Edward was born on December 25, 1937 in Milford, Delaware, son of the late James Berwick, Sr. and Gladys (Fitzgerald) Berwick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dolly (Lecates) Berwick; his two brothers James Berwick, Jr. and Albert Berwick; and his granddaughter, Michele Jarrell.

Edward served honorably in the U.S. Navy as a sonar technician. After his military service, he dedicated his career to the U.S. Postal Service, working in the Milford Post Office for many years and serving as the Postmaster in Greenwood and Milton. His commitment to service extended beyond his postal career; he was actively involved in several organizations, including the Southern Delaware Federal Employee Credit Union, the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), and the Milton Lions Club.

In his leisure time, Edward enjoyed bowling, boating, golfing, watching sports and classic TV shows, and spending time with his family.

Edward is survived by his two daughters, Teresa Jarrell of Lincoln, and Dawn Nielsen and her husband Chris of Milford; his grandchildren, Eric Nielsen and Elizabeth Nielsen; his sister Patricia (Berwick) Biddle and her husband Bob of Milford; his three brothers: Walter Berwick and his wife Linda of Fenwick, Ronald Berwick and his wife Susan of Texas, and Richard Berwick and wife Pat of Florida; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St. Milford, DE 19963. A time of visitation will be held prior beginning at 6:00pm. Interment will be held privately.
