Elizabeth Jane Lewczak

Elizabeth Jane Lewczak, 88, of Georgetown, DE, passed away on August 25, 2023.

Betty was born on January 30, 1935, to Andrew Mohout Squires and Rose Monahan Squires in Long Island, New York.

In 1968, Betty met Frank, A US Coast Guardsman assigned to Governors Island in New York City, they went on to start a family and had two sons, Frankie and Chris. During their adventures they called home many places, to include New York City, Groton, Connecticut, New Orleans, Louisiana, Chincoteague Island, Virgina, and finally Georgetown, Delaware. Betty was a strong-willed woman, who often had to handle moving an entire house while her husband was deployed, and successfully raised two loving sons whose various shenanigans tested her patience.

In 1995, Betty retired from Wilmington Trust after several years of service. She loved traveling to the Caribbean with her husband, gardening, reading, spending time with her family and friends, and raising numerous cairn terriers.

Betty was predeceased in death by her brother Andrew Squires, her mother Rose Monahan Squires, and her father Andrew Mohout Squires. She is survived by her husband Frank, her sons, Frankie, (Angie), and Chris (Suzanne), grandchildren Amanda, Alex, Angela, Alex, great grandchildren Mila and Carter, and nieces Jennifer Leckie (Joe), Tracey Anne Brunet, Lisa Eure-Elliot, nephews David Squires, Justin Lewczak (Tiffany), and special Sister-in-Law Joan Lewczak.

A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE where a time of visitation will begin at 11am. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Delaware Hospice. The Lewczak family is extremely grateful for the support of Delaware Hospice.
