Obituary for Ellen Cash Donovan

Ellen Cash Donovan, 73, of Georgetown, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with vascular dementia. She was born on March 8, 1951, in Millsboro, DE to the late, Marvin and Elva (Dorman) Cash.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Georgetown, DE. She was employed with Safeway for 17 years, Donovan’s Hardware for 5 years and Oceanus Motel for 25 years. Ellen was a seamstress that enjoyed sewing, making crafts and attending craft shows to share her many talents. Ellen could always be seen at many sporting events for her children & grandchildren, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be missed by many.

Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Martin B. Donovan; children, Matthew Donovan (Aerin) and Marcus Donovan; grandchildren, M. Blake Donovan (Kristen) and Jenna Rae Donovan; great grandchild, Paislee; siblings, Gary Cash (Vivian), Carolyn Wells, Jeffrey Cash (Gail), and Beverly Mitchell (Donald), many nieces, nephews and close friends. Her sisters were instrumental in helping provide care until the end.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 11, 2025 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, DE where a time of visitation will begin at 11:00am. Interment will be private.
