Emory R. West, Jr.

Milton-Emory R. West, Jr., 69, passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2023. Emory was born in Milford, DE on October 24, 1953, to his parents Emory R., Sr. and Charlotte (Walls) West.

A lifelong Miltonian, Emory retired from working as a machinist and welder for the Delaware Department of Transportation to spend more time fishing and enjoying life. Following in his father’s footsteps, he was a long time member and past Master of Endeavor Lodge #17 where he also served as Senior Deacon. He served multiple terms on the Milton Town Council, and helped organize the Milton Concerts in the Park series. He was a member of the Lewes Moose Lodge #646, Franklin Lodge #12, Tall Cedars #49, Little Lincoln Stock Car Club, and Milford Go-Kart Club. Stock car racing has always been a big part of his life and he built and drove many cars over the years.

Emory was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Karen West; his two brothers, Jack West (Alisa) and Arlo West; sister, Penny West; a granddaughter, Amala West; nephews, Jed, Zac and Sam West; and many other family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with Masonic Service at 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 1:00 pm. Both services will be in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, DE.
