Ernest F. Kohland, 97, of Harrington, Delaware passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024 at Kent General Hospital in Dover. Ernest was born on February 16, 1927 in Hillsboro, Maryland to the late Herman Kohland Sr. and Gertrude (Kessler) Kohland.
Ernest served our nation in the US Navy during World War II where he sacrificed much to ensure the freedom of our country. He loved riding motorcycles with his late wife Mary, doing word search puzzles, and socializing with friends. He served as the Harrington police chief for a number of years. Ernest retired from George and Lynch after working for their company for many of years. He loved his family and always put them first.
In addition to his parents, Ernest is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary (Butler) Kohland, son; Ernie Kohland, daughter; Sandy Stoltzman, grandson; Scott Meyer, and granddaughter; Theresa Tatman.
He is survived by his son; Dale Kohland, grandchildren; Robert “Lucky” Kohland, Tammy Kohland, Tonya Austin, Tanya Baughman, Crystal Dodge, Ernie Kohland II, Kimmy Nestler, and many great grandchildren.
