Ethel Josephine Donahue

Ethel Josephine Donahue, 86, of Newark, DE, originally of Tunkhannock, PA, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 14, 2022.

Ethel was born on January 24, 1936 to the late Edward and Evelyn (Long) Rosengrant in Factoryville, PA.

Ethel’s greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for the large family gatherings. She was an avid reader especially of historical non-fiction. She was a wild life enthusiast and donated generously to the National Wildlife Federation. She proudly served as dietary director at South Park Terrace prior to retirement. Ethel courageously battled colon cancer for three years before her passing.

In addition to her parents, Ethel is preceded by three of her loving children, Karen Birchfield, Kathy Germaine, and Edward Donahue; and her dog, Mutley.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Patty Donahue, Mary Locke (Gary), Erin Rautio, Thomas Donahue, Sara Green (Dick), James “Jamie” Donahue (Melody), and Patrick Donahue (Wendy); 29 grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren; as well as her dogs, Lilly and Penny.
