Faith Louise Swain

August 5, 1940 — May 17, 2023

Faith Louise Swain, 82, of Milford, Delaware, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 17, 2023, after a short illness.

Faith was born in Baltimore, Maryland in August 1940, to Hiram and Florine Taylor. She was the oldest of five children. She moved to Lincoln with her family after graduating high school. In 1961 she was married and together with her former husband they raised four children.

Before starting a family, she worked at L.D. Caulk in Milford and later as a secretary with the Kent County Family Court and at the John Dickinson Mansion as a tour guide. Then in 1971 she started working for Wilson’s Auction which proved to be a lifelong adventure. She was a fixture at the “Sale Barn” until her recent hospitalization and there is no doubt that her legacy there will live on for many years to come. The family wishes to express how grateful they are for the support, compassion, and love that Dave and Carolyn Wilson have shown their mother over the years.

Faith loved the beach, was an avid quilter, talented artist, collector of many things, and an amazing baker. Her sweet potato pies are legendary.

Her favorite companions for years have been her dogs. She fell in love with Scottish Terriers and has had several throughout the years. However, Windsor, her beloved boxer, stole her heart.

Faith was predeceased by her parents, Hiram and Florine Taylor, her brother James Taylor, sisters Joyce Wilkins and Barbara Bair. She is survived by her brother Hiram (Skip) Taylor (Pam), her four children, Susan Swain (Michelle), Debra Maull (Donald), Wendy Band (Darryn), and Josh Swain (Denise), and seven grandchildren Deaven and Parker Maull, Jacob, Austin, and Elizabeth Band, and Madison and Justin Swain. She will surely be missed by her family, many friends, and coworkers.
