Floyd J. Toomey, Jr.

SELBYVILLE – Floyd J. Toomey, Jr., 64, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. He was born in Lewes, DE to Madeline Lewis Toomey and the late Floyd J. Toomey, Sr. Floyd served his country with the U.S. Army. He continued his life of service to others as a Police Officer and, prior to retirement, he had been Police Chief of both Dagsboro and Ellendale. Floyd loved motorcycle riding, traveling, serving his community and was quite a history buff. He was preceded by his father; and his first wife, Diane Toomey. Floyd is survived by his mother; his second wife, Anne Persolio Toomey; two children, Floyd J. Toomey, III (Amanda) and Tabitha Cranmer; three step-children, Cory Murray (Amanda), Alyssa Murray (Paul) and Remi Devine; siblings, ‘Dale’ Toomey, Robert Toomey and Sheila Wilson (Fred); three grandchildren, Dakota Cranmer, Skye Cranmer and Helena Roberts, as well as his faithful companion, Greyson. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 1 pm. A time of visitation will begin at 11 am. Interment and Military Honors will be at Union Cemetery. All in attendance must wear a mask and adhere to social distancing and gathering protocols.
