Genevia (Layne) Daniels

Felton – Genevia Daniels, of Felton, age 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Genevia was born April 11, 1944, in Phelps, Kentucky to Ida (Stevens) Layne and Hulen Layne.

Genevia moved to Delaware in the early 1960’s and has remained a resident since.

In her lifetime, Genevia wore many hats. She was a wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She also supported her husband in his contracting business and often worked at his side on job sites. Genevia enjoyed genealogy, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, cooking, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed quilting. One of her quilts is on display at the Big Sandy Heritage Center in Pikesville, Kentucky.

Genevia is preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Hulen Layne, a brother, Hulen Layne, Jr., and sisters, Julie Layne, Patricia Ann Brown, and Pricilla Whitt.

Genevia is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John Daniels, daughters, Jowana Lamb, Melinda Daniels and Alfreda Daniels, and her grandson, Jason Daniels; also surviving are grandchildren, Jenna Lamb, Jamie Daniels, Tracy Lamb, and Jordan Phillippi; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; siblings, Mary Dotson, Lorretta Cox, Lora Wolford, Rebecca Hurley, Richard Layne and William Layne; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

A private service will be planned at a later date.
