George R. Butler

George R. “Rocky” Butler, 63, of Harrington passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021 at home. George was born in Easton, Maryland, the son of the late Reuben and Nellie (Hignutt) Butler. He served in the National Guard. Rocky was a groomer for the harness racing industry and had also been a house painter. Rocky was a member of the American Legion in Harrington. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wilmer T. Layton, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Robertson Butler, Children, Chrissy Ann Hayes of Milton, DE and Mary Butler of Akron, Ohio ; step-sons, William “Chris” Hurd and Stephen Kyer both of Harrington; sisters, Betty L. Herman of Severn, Maryland and Peggy L. BilBrough (Edward) of Middleburg, PA; nephew, Edward R. Layton; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front Street, Milford, where friends may call after 1:00 pm.
