HARRINGTON – Georgia Betty Reirden, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the Bayhealth Hospital in Milford.
Betty was born on March 29, 1941, in Dover, Delaware to the late Woodrow and Thelma Marvel.
Betty moved to Harrington in 1974 following her husband’s retirement from the Air Force. Betty raised seven children and during her summers, volunteered with the Crossman Drum and Bugle Corp and eventually earned the Lifetime Service Award. She spent her later years enjoying slots, fine dining with family members, and Christmas shopping, which was a yearlong passion of hers.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William; daughter, June Bell; her sisters, Joan Caulk, and Joyce Payne.
She will be greatly missed by her six children, Jimmy Teagle (Ronicca), John Teagle (Marlene), Jane Paskey (Bill), David Reirden (Carrie), William Reirden (Kathy), and Mary Grant (Bob); her eleven grandchildren, J.R. (Dracy), Stephen, Robert (Ashley), Nicholas (Morgan), William, Shelby (Matt), Taylor (Andrew), David, Shannon, Patrick, and Jordyn; seven great-grandchildren, Chase, Braden, Trey, Theo, Delaney, Ty, and Thane; and her brother, Julian.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 1:00pm in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 217 East Main Street, Felton, Delaware. The time of visitation will begin at 11:00am. Interment will immediately follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Harrington, Delaware.
Flowers are accepted but donations are encouraged to the Harrington Fire Company Ambulance, 20 Clark Street, Harrington, Delaware.
