Gilbert F. Mcbride, Jr.

MILTON - Gilbert F. McBride, Jr., passed away at the age of 84, on Friday, September 30, 2022 in his home surrounded by loved ones.

Gilbert was born April 17, 1938 in Wilmington to his parents, Gilbert F., Sr., and Helen Marie (Adams) McBride.

Gilbert loved hunting, fishing, boating, watching sports and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, relaxing at the beach and building sand forts and bonfires for them at the edge of the water, and being the family “Mr. Fix It All”. In his down time he loved listening to 50’s music, watching westerns and breeding, raising and training sporting dogs for field trial events. He loved his time attending worship at White’s Chapel Church and taking a quiet ride on the golf cart with his beloved Helen.

In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife Helen E. (Price) McBride on August 21, 2022; and two sisters, Jean Ferreira and Doris Lewis.

He is survived by his children, Donna Lee Behornar (John), Kimberly Ann Nickle (Dale), Cynthia Lynn Stopyra (Al) and Pamela Marie Stopyra (Steve); 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 7:30pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, Del. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00pm-7:30pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 1:00pm at Chester Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2629 Faulk Road, Wilmington, Del 19810.
