Gladys A. Barbosa

Gladys A. Barbosa, 80, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at Beebe Hospital on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. She was born in Bogota, Colombia to the late Cipriano and Emma (Benavides) Silva. She retired from the Indian River School District. She attended St. Michael the Archangel in Georgetown and loved attending her grandkids games and events. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Eduardo Silva. She is survived by her husband, Mario Barbosa; children, Sandra (Butch) Coursey, Carlos (Angel) Barbosa, Magda Barbosa Harmon, and Adriana (Randy) Mason; sister and brother-in-law, Elsa and Jose Barbosa; grandchildren, Mario (Stacie )Street, Nina Street, Natasha Barbosa, Kaylee Mason, Hayden Harmon, Cade Mason, and Peyton Harmon; great-granddaughters, Trista and Kinley Street; nephews Bill Barbosa and Edgar (Dragica) Barbosa; and niece, Liliana (Ted) Finch. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 11 am in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE 19947. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Georgetown. A viewing will be held the night before on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 from 5 – 7 pm. All those in attendance must wear a mask and adhere to social gathering and distancing protocols. In lieu of flowers donations in Glady’s memory can be made to: Georgetown EMS/ Station 93, 406 N.
