Gladys Dora Maloney, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, at Bayhealth Sussex Campus in Milford, DE. Born on May 18, 1928, in Georgetown, DE, to the late Frank and Ocoila (Outten) Savage, she lived a fulfilling life marked by a loving family, steadfast work ethic, and a joy for the simple pleasures in life.
The matriarch of the Maloney family, Gladys was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas A. Maloney, who passed earlier in the year, and their cherished son, Edward Thomas Maloney. She is survived by her son Barry W. Maloney and his wife Aileen; daughter-in-law Donna D. Maloney; her adored grandchildren Christopher, Ryan, Clay and his wife Sarah, and Jenna and her husband Beau; her treasured great-grandchildren, Chase, Dylan, Behr, Buck, Bennett, and Quincy; and her niece, Phyllis Smith.
Gladys's early career included selling Avon, but she found her true calling when she joined the team at the Milford Hallmark Stores in October 1975. For an impressive 38 years, she was a staple of the store until her retirement in October 2012.
She found joy in life’s simpler hobbies; word searches, puzzles, and spending time at the beach. An avid fisher and boater, she especially adored treasured moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her dedicated caregivers, Glenda, Keshora, and Candy, who provided comfort and care in her final days.
Funeral services will be held on at 12:00pm Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St. Milford, DE 19963. A time of visitation will begin at 11:00am prior.
