Gloria Stella

Gloria Stella, 96, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully with friends and family on April 4, 2025.

Gloria was born in Union City, NJ, on November 21, 1928, to the late Richard and Agnes (Shepherd) Bonato. She grew up in Weehawken in the family home and had a long career and in banking at Hudson Trust Company, which became Hudson United Bank in New Jersey. She loved old movies and reading. She knew every old movie star as well as their movies. She enjoyed sweets, getting her hair done, italian food and diluted wine, and being with and spending time with friends and family; especially her cat, Tasha.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Stella; and cousin, Bob Sonzogni, survived by cousins, Bill Sonzogni and Tina Sonzogni, and many friends and neighbors after moving to the home of her dreams that she built in Georgetown in 2004.

A graveside will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Union Cemetery, 109 East Adams Street, Georgetown, DE 19947. Arrangements in the care of Short Funeral Services, 609 E Market Street, Georgetown, DE 19947.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Georgetown Ambulance Service Post 8 American Legion, 406 North Front St., Georgetown, DE 19947 or Georgetown Public Library, 123 W Pine St., Georgetown, DE 19947.
