Hall Andrew "Andy" Macklin, Iii

September 5, 1951 — July 20, 2024

Lincoln City – It is with great sadness, and after a long illness, we announce the passing of our beloved Hall Andrew “Andy” Macklin, III, on July 20, 2024, with his sister-in-law, Janet E. Macklin, and daughter, Tanja Jester at his bedside as he departed this world.

Andy was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Hall Sr., and Letha Macklin; his parents, Hall Jr., and Elsie Macklin; and his younger brother, John E. Macklin, Sr., all of Lincoln City.

He is survived by his daughter, Tanja Jester (Pat) of North Carolina; two sons, Hall Andrew Macklin, IV of Lincoln City, and Nathan P. Macklin of Canada; sister-in-law and long-term caregiver, Janet E. Macklin; nephew, John E. Macklin, Jr., (Amber Palo), all of Lincoln City; and three grandchildren, Harley Jester, Lonna Macklin, and Lucian Macklin.

For those of you who knew Andy, and even those that never met him – If you ever had the chance to drive by his home on Wilkins Road, you’ll remember him sitting in his front yard every summer under his big, old, Mimosa tree waving to everyone as they drove by. Yes, Andy certainly was a kindred soul.

Andy enjoyed NASCAR and driving the #97 at Little Lincoln Speedway, Georgetown Speedway and Delmar Speedway. Andy was a “diehard fan” of anything and everything FORD related. Andy, and his brother John Macklin, Sr., never missed a chance to express their opinions when it came to the great Ford vs Chevy debate!! They shared many talks, laughs, stories, and playful arguments over the years which both Andy and John always remembered fondly. Andy always had a story to tell, but especially loved sharing Peaky Peaky Island with his daughter and grandchildren. Among storytelling, Andy enjoyed gardening, and shared many special gardening moments with his sister-in-law Janet over the years. Andy also enjoyed numerous ice cream socials, and he loved scrapbooking of many past and current events.

Andy was a retired US Army Veteran. He served during the Vietnam War and was awarded medals for Combat Infantry, Vietnam Service, National Defense and Rifleman. Andy was also a retired truck driver from John Macklin and Son Demolition where he worked with his family for many years. Andy will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Delaware Hospice in Milford for the excellent care Andy received.

A funeral service will be held at Noon on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, Del, where a time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Lincoln Cemetery.
