Harrison Hammond

Harrison Hammond, 93, of Georgetown, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Acts Manor House, Seaford, DE. He was born in Ocean View, DE, son of the late Edward and Lulu Hammond.

He was a member of Georgetown Ambulance Station #93 and American Legion Post #8 and Odd Fellows. He loved camping and square dancing with the Whirlaways. He loved to travel across the country and internationally. He loved photography and even worked part-time early in his career as a professional photographer. Harrison had many talents in electronics, electrical, and carpentry. As a matter of fact, he built his first home after moving to Georgetown, lived there until moving to the Manor House in Seaford, DE. He retired from the Delaware Army National Guard for 20 years and retired from Nanticoke Hospital as a Biomedical Technical Supervisor. After retiring, he worked part-time at Delaware Technical and Community College.

Harrison preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lulu Hammond; two sisters Violet, Grace; and brother, Preston; and his wives, Evelyn Hammond and Helen Hammond.

He survived by his wife Madalyn and son, Jerry (Maria) and two grandsons, Jerry, Jr., and Todd. The family would like to extend special thanks to the caregivers at Acts Manor House and Accent Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, DE, where friends may call after 1:00 pm. Interment will be private.
