PRIME HOOK BEACH – Harry R. Halfen passed away peacefully, in his sleep, at his home on Friday, July 16, 2021. Harry was born in Concord Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania son of the late Peter and Florence (Kelley) Halfen. The family moved to Delaware when Harry was around 4 years old and relocated to Lincoln. He met his lovely wife when he was 15 and she was 16; they were married for 66 years until death did them part. Harry worked for the State of Delaware Motor Vehicle Division for 36 years and one month, retiring in 1989, at the age of 57. He really enjoyed his retirement time with his family. He loved to work on Chevette’s and at one time owned 8. He also enjoyed collecting coins and really enjoyed his love of guns. Harry was an active member of Milford First Baptist Church for almost 43 years and was a witness and a testimony for our Lord Jesus Christ. In addition to his parents, Harry is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou (Brown) Halfen; a son, Paul R. Halfen; half-siblings, Mary Halfen, John Halfen, James Franklin Halfen, Charles W. Halfen, Harvey Halfen, Mildred Halfen, Sarah Halfen, Lillian Halfen, Anna Mary Halfen, Walter Halfen and Jesse Marvin Halfen; as well as, his siblings, Peter Halfen, Florence Halfen Appel, William Halfen, Paul Robert Halfen, Catherine Halfen Morgan, John Halfen and Ralph Halfen. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia L. Halfen; granddaughter, Kelly Lyttle and her husband David; three great-grandchildren, Oran, Ashlynne and Leonidas Lyttle; as well as, many nieces, nephews and extended family. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, July 22, 2021 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Homes, 119 NW Front Street, Milford. A time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00am. Burial will be held privately at Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Harry’s memory may be made to Milford First Baptist Church, 6062 Old Shawnee Road, Milford, De 19963.
