Harry 'Webby' J Webb, Sr.

June 27, 1937 — March 26, 2021

Harry J. Webb, Sr. ‘Webby’ made his final journey on March 26, 2021 to be with his family and to paint the skies. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford, DE. Harry was the patriarch of the family. Harry was 83 and born on June 27, 1937 to the late Louis and Alice Webb in Wilmington, DE. Harry was a very dedicated soldier in the US Army serving 28 years. He served two tours in Vietnam. He was a true military man. He received many commendations, awards, and metals while serving. After retiring he picked up the skill of painting, and painted many homes from Florida to Bethany Beach, whistling the entire time he worked with Randy Long for 15 plus years. As children he was an amazing father to his three girls and one son. If he left the house the girls were all in tow. The youngest Harry being his name sake was a baby so he did not get to go with us all of the time, but he never missed a bike ride or any adventure that our Mom went with us too. He loved boating, but boating was not his forte. You could always count on some mishap in boating. So unfortunately, Mom, who could not swim and Harry the baby stepped back from boating, but the girls still tagged along. Harry was very proud of his family and what he was able to give to them, so it was not unusual to pull up on the school bus and see all new bicycles lined up in the yard or all new lawn chairs or life jackets. He loved crabbing and fishing, which we did a lot. Anyone looking for him after work knew he was on Pole Bridge or Oyster Rock. Crystal nor Diana will eat crabs or fish to this day, we had it so much. He loved to play on the softball team and we loved to go to every practice and game. Our live split ways as we became early teens and we wanted friends and to go to the same school and he was not ready to part ways with the military. He returned back to our lives for good when he was 50. Harry was the kind of man that never knew a stranger. He was very outgoing, friendly and loved to strike up a conversation. Harry was a good man, a hard working man and had a kind and gentle soul. His last year of life was spent living at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford. He loved this place, it was his new job. He painted the walls there many times over with his partner Kenny Wilkerson, who had passed away a few years ago. He would always say how happy he was to be at the Delaware Veterans Home. Can’t leave out the staff. He loved them all so much and as we sit by his side the amount of staff that just poured in to say their final fair wells, coming in early so they could say goodbye they filled our hearts with joy with all of their loving stories and how much they loved him and he loved them just as much. The Delaware Veterans Home was a perfect fit for him. He was in his world and so happy. Our hearts are so heavy due to Covid we never got to see him for the year he was there, until the time came to call in the troops and we never left our soldiers side. I, Phyllis was blessed because I did get to see him and hug him, kiss him, and tell him how much I loved him and I did get to hear him say he loved me back. I got to visit and talk with him prior to him being sent back to his home to rest up for his journey to heaven but not before I called my sisters and brother so he could hear them all for the last time. Harry is survived by his children, Crystal Clukey (John), Phyllis Webb-Long (Randy), Diana Webb, and Harry Webb. Jr. (Tara); and his special granddaughter, Melissa Webb; and his first wife and mother of his children, Frances Denham; he is also survived by many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a huge amount of nieces and nephews. All services will be private, as we want to keep him and pass him around our homes. Anyone wanting to make a donation in Harry’s name please do so at: The Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963.
