Felton- Herman “Ray” Quillen, 90, passed at home on Sunday, June 27, 2021. He was born on February 24, 1931 in Selbyville, the son of Herman and Elizabeth (Cullen) Quillen. Ray served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954 on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He owned a salvage yard and worked for Tudor Electric. He then became owner of Hughes Delaware Maid Scrapple. On April of 2011, Ray became a life member of the Felton Fire Company, Station 48. Ray enjoyed NASCAR, horse racing, going to auctions and spending time with his longtime friend, Mary Jane Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, William “Bill” Quillen, sisters, Clara E. Quillen, Leila Marvel and Mary Lou Hammond Dutton and granddaughter, Ashley M. Womack. He is survived by his daughter, Dolly Womack and son, David Quillen, both of Felton; grandchildren, Wesley Womack, Dana Womack, Travis Quillen, Anna Quillen, Cloe Quillen, Kyle Quillen and A.J. Quillen; Great grandchildren, Ashley L. Womack, Ryleigh and Bailey Womack, and nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 6 to 8 pm in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton, DE 19943. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 10:00 am at Greensboro Cemetery, 311 N. Main St., Greensboro, Maryland. We want to thank the people who have helped Ray, Kathy Faulkner, Lisa Quillen, Judy Green, Rosalie Kelly, Barbara Brown, Christy Morales, Danielle Weiss, Jennifer Hobbs, Tonya Womack, Jessica Manning and Compassionate Care Hospice.
