Jack E. Brownawell

April 5, 1939 — August 15, 2021

Jack E. Brownawell, 82, of Milford, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 15, 2021, with his wife by his side. Jack was born in Carlisle, PA to the late Rebecca (Sipe) and Edward Brownawell. He retired as a Detective from the Baltimore City Police Department, followed by a career with the State of Delaware training bus drivers for the Division of Developmentally Disabled. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Baltimore City Lodge #3, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Past President of the Murderkill Lions Club. Jack loved spending time with his family. He also loved to travel, golf, read the newspaper, and do the jumble. Watching TV was a favorite pastime, especially police shows. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Gina Kuhn; granddaughter, Christina Kuhn; brother, Sylvester Brownawell; and step-daughter, Gretchen Adelung. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cheryl (Vetters) Brownawell; son, Gregory Brownawell; daughter, Gwendolyn Cline; step-son, Patrick Keller; sister, Nancy York; grandchildren, Neal Brownawell, Sean Brownawell, Lindsey Brownawell, Courteney Cline, and Jeffrey Kuhn; step-grandchildren, Zachary Adelung and Jennifer Adelung. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jack’s memory can be made to: Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
