Jackie Leon Parsons

February 3, 1942 — January 3, 2025

Jackie Leon Parsons, 82, of Harrington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 3, 2025. Jackie was born in Kingwood, West Virginia on February 3, 1942 to the late James and Gladys (McCabe) Parsons.

A proud, 28 year member of the United States Air Force, Jackie called many places home but settled in Delaware where he lived for eighteen years. His regimented mind and attention to detail made him ideal for his work as an aircraft mechanic, advancing to an aircraft mechanic supervisor for the Air Force. It was important that everything was how it should be; whether it be his work, home, cars, or lawn. Above the love he had for his country was the love that he had for his family. Jackie was a dedicated son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

1977-1983 in Hawaii, he was assigned to the 6594th Test Group “Catch A Falling Star” as a Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge of the Direct Operations Recovery section. From the Ball fields to the Fishing boats he was always a friend and mentor to all that served with him.

In addition to his parents, Jackie is preceded in death by four of his siblings; Archie Parsons, Dortha Metheny, Connie Kendall, Jimmy Parsons.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of sixty years, Edith Parsons, three daughters; Jackie Keenan, Michele Terracio (Shane), Janel Parsons, grandchildren; David Keenan Jr., Timothy Terracio, Jesse Terracio, great grandchildren; Rosa-Lynn Terracio, Anthony Terracio, and sister; Joan Bolyard (Gerald), and several Nephews and Nieces.

Military honors and interment will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware at 11:00 am. Services in the care of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford, Delaware 19963.
